I’m the proprietor of Big Deal PR (www.bigdealpr.com), a virtual agency that manages campaigns and projects in digital marketing, PR 2.0, community management, advertising, and special events (real or virtual). I have 20+ years in traditional public relations and advertising, but in recent years I’ve incorporated tools and tactics such as Twitter, Facebook, community building, SEM, blogging and YouTube to help businesses build better customer relationships and boost sales.
I recently won a Shorty Award for being an outstanding content producer on Twitter for tweeting as @PeggyOlson, a character from the AMC hit drama "Mad Men." In addition to tweeting for several Mad Men characters, I've launched and/or managed 30+ Twitter accounts for clients, non-profit organizations, community-building, special events, entertainment, personal and research purposes.
I’m speaking about social media methodologies at numerous conferences in 2009, including South by Southwest Interactive, The 140 Characters Conference, O’Reilly Twitter Bootcamp. OnHollywood, WebVisions, Innotech, Communicopia, American Marketing Association Roundtable, and the Cool Twitter Conference. I will also be teaching a class in social media at Portland State University fall term 2009.
As the leader of Social Media Club Portland, I co-produced the first annual SoMe Awards in April 2009 to honor outstanding social media projects.
In February 2009, I launched a social media consortium with other professionals called Supporting Characters (www.SupportingCharacters.com) to help provide social media training and support services to corporate marketers, PR firms and ad agencies.
Summer 2008, I helped produce and market CreateCamp (Cre8Camp.org), which was the first ever Bar Camp for creatives, along with the resuscitated Portland Creative Conference (Cre8Con.com). If you attended those events or are interested in future events, join our groups for those organizations here on LinkedIn (which I manage).
Big Deal PR creates strategic marketing campaigns using social media, PR 2.0, advertising and SEM for businesses and organizations in hi-tech, entertainment, health/fitness, retail, education, travel/hospitality, pet products, electrical technologies and construction.
