3Sisters Design :: Art Director + Graphic Design
Portland, Oregon Area
I'm Lisa, a fearless, seasoned Graphic Designer / Art Director [yes, there's a difference!] with a proven track record and versatile palette. I can take direction, play well with others, work under some crazy tight deadlines AND develop wicked clever ideas! I wanna have some FUN while flexing my creative muscles. My passion is print advertising. I'm constantly striving for aesthetically pleasing [yet thoroughly effective] design. My work includes award-winning designs of corporate collateral materials, ad campaigns, identity, editorial design/re-design, brand strategy, signage/building graphics and more. With a wide range of experience, I’m very versatile and seasoned and (am told) simply a lot of fun to work with! My rate is competitively priced at $100-150/hour and I am anxious to get started...
MY PAST FULL-TIME LIFE: I was an art director for many years in some high-profile Portland and Seattle ad agencies. Went solo in 2000, but still continue to do creative overflow for many. For past 15 years I've served the creative industry as Sr. Art Rep, Gallery Manager, Sr. Graphic Designer, Sr. Art Director to freelance Creative Director. Eventually owning my own design studio, 3SistersDesign. In this time I've had the chance to create award winning work for both small start-ups and worldwide brands. Among the big ones are Nike, Adidas, Cadillac, Dairy Queen, Real Networks, Chase Manhattan, Pfizer, Dr. Marten's, Hewlett-Packard, Epson, Microsoft and more.
MY NEEDS: Coffee. Always Coffee. Oh, and as much as I love the whole freelancing thing (working in my pj's) I also crave some adult conversation and the collaboration amongst other creatives. Would love to partner up! I can always use referrals for clients that need to update their identity and make their marketing materials more effective. Oh and also, I'm a print designer so if one of you amazing web artists want to trade out design services for a new website for moi that would be most awesome.

Market Place Design was a full-service design firm located within Photogroup (Portland's largest commercial photography studio at the time). We had complete in-house photography and pre-press capabilities. We offered our clients a wide-range of integrated media solutions for their advertising needs. I held the position of Senior Art Director which also included managing graphic artists, photographers, stylists, freelance personnel and outside vendors. I worked with different clients, schedule and budgets. I was able to remain calm, flexible, easy-going and able to respond to fast-changing situations and deadlines. I was diplomatic and friendly, adept at handling the administrative concerns of a project, while getting the most out of my creative team. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Left because my husband was transferred to Seattle.

I would oversee the artistic design of advertisements and print materials. Along with my creative director, I was the decision maker and responsible for the quality of the finished product. We choose a photographer, an illustrator, models, and any props necessary for an ad. As art director I was not only responsible for the "look" of an ad but was also part of the creative team responsible for developing the very concept.

I represented local/national artists. I worked with interior design trade to supply them with fine art and custom framing. I worked with new construction of corporate facilities (as well as established companies) in supplying/suggesting their fine artwork in public + professional spaces. I managed our fine art gallery in downtown portland oregon and participated in monthly art walks.
