The National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD) is a national not-for-profit association representing governmental public health department HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis programs. Health departments are the “central authorities of the nation’s public health system” and, as such, bear the primary public sector responsibility for health. Health department HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis programs are responsible for significant federal, state and local resources. With their resources, health departments take leadership over developing comprehensive public health responses to HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis in order to protect the health and wellness of their constituents.
NASTAD provides a national, unified voice for health department HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis programs. As a leader in national policy and programmatic strategy, NASTAD supports the work of HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis prevention, care and treatment programs across the nation. NASTAD also educates policymakers, advocates for necessary federal resources and provides critical technical assistance and support to health department programs.
