The Netherlands Bioinformatics Centre (NBIC) is the hub of the Dutch network of bioinformatics groups. These groups are located at universities, research institutes, medical centres and industrial parties and work on a variety of biological topics, ranging from biomedical research to plant genomics and industrial fermentation.
Next to performing collaborative bioinformatics research projects, the NBIC participants offer their expertise to the life sciences field through the establishment of support platforms for broader (re)use of tools and databases and the set-up of an advanced e-science infrastructure. Finally, NBIC provides a range of education activities aimed at all levels: high-school students, bachelors, masters and PhD’s.
