This year's festival features keynote speeches from Ole ScheerenRichard Rogers, Rocco Yim, Saskia Sassen and Moshe Safdie who will speak on a range of issues and topics reflecting the theme of ‘Architects and the City’.
The 70 strong speaker line-up also features Ho Tong Yen, CEO of the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco City; Carlo Ratti, Director at MIT Senseable City Lab; Erik L’Hereux, Pencil Office; Sir Peter Cook, CRAB Studio; Sergey Kuznetsov, Moscow City Architect; and Ole Smith, Lead architect on the NYU project for Heatherwick Studio to name just a few.
At the heart of the festival sit the WAF Awards. This year 283 projects have been shortlisted across 29 categories of Completed Buildings, Future Projects and Landscape Projects in the world’s biggest architectural awards programme. Uniquely at WAF, two representatives from every single shortlisted practice attend the festival to present their nominated project live in 20 minute crit sessions over the first two days of the event. There are more than 95 international judges participating in the judging panels.
