The vision of the new Institute is driven and shaped by its aspirations for the sector. These have been informed and developed through widespread consultation with individuals and organisations from the private, public and voluntary sector.
The aspirations of the new Institute are: for a consolidated and enforceable training and qualifications structure for industry professionals, including compulsory continuous professional development, which enables career development and progression for effective representation for the industry and professionals working within it to enable the industry to have a greater influence on, and make a significant contribution to, local and central government policy in sport and physical activity for a single forum that enables industry stakeholders, especially employers, to explore and develop long term strategies for the sport and physical activity sector to be a source of professional leadership and support for those working in the sector for a significant increase in the profile, gravitas and credibility of the industry.
The new Institute will therefore be founded as a strategic partner for sector stakeholders an educational organisation to create and drive a new training and qualifications structure for the sector in partnership with key stakeholders a single representative voice for its professional individuals within the sector and an advocate for its membership an advisory and research resource for government and its agencies a forum for the sector to come together and shape the future of the industry and its professionals.
