Smart Grid Executive Forum

The Smart Grid Executive Forum (SGEF) was created to gather thought leaders from the utility and utility technology industry for the express purpose of providing an exclusive real-time forum for the exchange of non-promotional and non-commercial information and news commentary related to the development and deployment of Smart Grid technologies.

Members commit to participate regularly as a condition of membership since this is a closed and exclusive group with a focus on the quality -- not the quantity -- of membership and content.

Membership is exclusive to utility industry executives, engineers, and smart grid technology industry executive leaders.

The group is NOT ACCEPTING recruiters, financial/stock research analysts, venture capitalists, event sales people, event organizers, ad sales, field sales people from vendors, job seekers (there are no job postings and solicitation is prohibited), marketing firms etc.

The goal of providing a non-commercial/non-promotional forum for the open exchange of ideas, information and news commentary is managed. Members will be screened for qualifications -- by web and potentially phone -- in advance of being accepted to the group.

For the purpose of definition, the US Department of Energy describes the characteristics of a Smart Grid as:

1) Digital communications allowing for secure, two-way, high speed communications;
2) Self-healing capability from power disturbance events;
3) Enabling participation by consumers in demand response;
4) Ability to operate with resilience against physical and cyber attack;
5) Providing power quality for 21st century requirements;
6) Accommodating all generation and storage options;
7) Enabling new products, services and markets;
8) Optimizing assets and efficiency.
