The Pacific Northwest International Section of the Air and Waste Management Association (PNWIS) was formed in 1961 with the original objective of promoting control of air pollution and has been expanded to encompass waste management. PNWIS includes the US states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and the Canandian provinces of British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.

Over 900 individuals in Alaska, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and the Yukon are members of PNWIS. Approximately 800 other individuals are associated with local chapters. Members are technical and professional people from industry, academia, government, manufacturers, consulting and testing firms and the public sector. « less
