Trying an experiment in exposure - Need your help!

Hi - We all know that treasuries are supposed to get you exposure - when one of your items is featured and also as the curator - a way to connect to more people. In it's own way Pinterest is the same idea - you are giving people exposure while exposing yourself to new contacts and potential customers.

I would like to do an experiment if I can get 6 people who are willing to participate.

Here is my premise - I'm not sure that treasuries give you alot of exposure unless you are in some of these large teams where they swarm on new member treasuries - and I really don't know how many sales people get from them - as really you may still have to search for a treasury at the rate they are put up.

Let's do a controlled experiment - take 6 people's shops - each person creates a Pinterest Board - each populate the board with an item from the other 5 shops and one from their own shop - the same 6 items as original pins. THEN Part 2 - we each follow each others board - then we each create a new board with 6 additional items from each other's shops but not coordinated - and each of REPINs each other's items. Wait a week and see if any of us get any sales or if our shop stats change significantly.

Anyone game?

I would like to be part of this experiment but I was away on vacation for a while and let all my items expire, my shop is empty at the moment. I have been trying to figure out my priorities and, as I upload new items and renew old ones, what is the best way to promote my shop without spending all my time on the computer.I have downloaded some of the free ebooks from the Social Media Examiner and need to go through them and learn something. I don't understand much about Pinterest except creating boards, pin items I like or repin items someone else already pinned first.

I think treasuries take a long time to set up and promote, and by the time you are done, a lot more treasuries have been done and yours will be buried among thousands of other treasuries.

I'm game. I don't quite understand what part 2 involves but will give it a go.

Hi Dolores welcome back! I love your necklaces so looking forward to seeing what you have now.

Pinterest to me is the same concept - one big way of saving things you like - or you want to promote (People use pinterest all the time for self-promotion). My rule of thumb is for new pins (because there is some concern about copyrights etc).

Be aware however that once on Pinterest it doesn't matter if the original item (especially if it came off Etsy is still around - status doesn't change).

1 - Only pin when a person or company has supplied a Pin button - every Etsy item has them so it's easy to Pin - so does Fab.com.

2 - Pinterest supplies code so that people or companies can lock out others from pinning - that is their right so you won't inadvertently pin when someone doesn't want you to.

3 - There are of course tons of images on peoples computers and online that have neither granted or revoked pinning - I usually don't pin from those sites (yes it narrows down what I can pin) I will Like or comment on the pin instead or Follow the entire board. That said I do get carried away and repin (and hope I dont' get yelled at by someone).

Get those items back up and when we have our volunteers we'll chat again!

    Hi Stevie :-)
I really like your idea... I had an idea along the same lines.. but wasn't sure how to impliment. I try and create treasuries from the list of shops in the other discussion, but the list is so long its almost overwhelming. I am game to try your experiment :-)

Hi, Stevie. I am game! As Etsy members have been posting their shop addresses, I have been taking something from everyone's shop and pinning it on my Pinterest. I have been curious what kind of exposure that has given others. But I am also up to the 6-shsop posting idea you are suggesting.
