Triangle Area Freelancers (TAF) is dedicated group of working freelance writers located in NC’s Triangle region and the surrounding communities. The majority of our members place their professional focus on nonfiction magazine articles and books, but many also excel at fiction, poetry, personal essays, photography, newspaper writing and more. Writing can be a lonely profession; TAF is proof it doesn’t have to be. This online group welcomes writers and those in writing-related professions.

Though informal, TAF maintains a professional attitude toward freelance writing. The organization’s approach has always been to write toward publication, and that writers should be paid appropriately for their work.

In 2008, TAF launched Write Now!, its first annual one-day nonfiction writing symposium. The event drew nearly 60 novice and experienced freelance writers from throughout the state. This conference has grown each year and offers two concurrent session tracks. Write Now! 2011 welcomed writers from three states and was presented before a sold out crowd.
