The fashion industry set many trends interpreting psychological needs and cycles. People like to be leaded by seasons, moods and attitudes. Color is one way to translate this into clothes and makeup. Color is expressed as well in other categories of products such as: furniture, decorating and cars. Style, such as mini is reinterpreted as minimalism in many industries (real estate, ergonomics, web design, etc) or vice-versa. Ethnic is other fashion trend often interpreted by other industries: food flavors, hotels and resorts, etc. The cool attitude is time to time re-interpreted in music, street language, cinema and many other industries.
    So, the influence in huge.
I recommend you to do a benchmark exercise in which fashion trends influence other industries with a simple glance of the magazine and TV ads and you'll be surprised.
    All the best to you.

Fashion almost always reflects something about culture removed from of the style world. Paying attention to trends in this sphere is critical to understanding what's important in terms of aesthetics, designs and even popular ideas.

With the success of shows like Game of Thrones, movies like Thor and other fantasy tropes, it's not entirely surprising that there is a growing audience for such fashions.

I think we have a constant fascination for the underwater world with great mysteries like Atlantis still to be solved. I can see hotel chains and even restaurants incorporating seaside designs into their concepts.

It could work especially well in furniture design. These spheres often influence each other.
