Every job I have I need to find an Architect to present to the client - so to me the architect is very important to my jobs. The problem in the UK is that there is no need for an Interior Designer to be properly qualified - no diplomas no degrees needed - a real shame. Most people do not know the difference between decorators and interior deisgners. It's all about education - educating each other about what we all do - I do not just do "fluffy" cushions! I deal with hard surfaces, processes, materials, technical regs, lighting plans adn technology - but then it depends how well one is trained?
