In an ever more risky yet competitive environment in which bankers and investors operate, it has become necessary to share knowledge on risk management in order to protect themselves and their organizations.

A large part of the risk that we experience comes from having to compromise on risk related issue in order to compete with organizations with weaker risk awareness and therefore controls.

The aim of this practice group is to provide members with a platform to share ideas and knowledge, seek insight and participate in discussion forums on best practices in risk management – identifying and mitigating risk. This is expected to have a beneficial impact on the financial sector through raising awareness and building capacity on practical risk management strategies and techniques.

The more we share our experiences, our mistakes and our successes, the better it is to facilitate the improvement of standards in risk management for the entire financial sector. Improved standards protects everybody as there is a more profound understanding of the need for maintaining higher risk management standards as well as less of a tendency to concede to business pressure at the expense of risk management.

Members are encouraged to share their experiences, ideas and tools for managing risk. Discussion forums can be used to solicit ideas for resolving issues, gaining deeper understanding of risk issues, asking for help on resolving sticky risk issues, etc.

The site will also be used to bring to light new thoughts and practices to managing risk. « less
