The biggest challenge faced by retailers in India today is to ensure that the private label products that they are selling across their store chains satisfy various regulatory requirements. The various regulatory requirements indicated by the newly formed regulatory body FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) include licensing requirements, general and specific requirements on hygiene and sanitary practices, packaging and labelling, product testing standards, and microbiological requirements.
