The mission of the Foundation is to provide funding to non-profit organizations for support services and outreach for people affected by breast cancer in the Hudson Valley, New York (Columbia, Dutchess, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, and Orange, Ulster and Greene counties)

The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation funds support services for people who are fighting breast cancer in New York's Hudson Valley. The Foundation was started by Dana Effron and Cathy Varunok, who are two community activists who saw a need for increased services for people with breast cancer. Dana and Cathy raised money for years for national breast cancer organizations, however, in 2004 they decided to focus their fundraising efforts on helping their friends and neighbors in the eight counties of the Hudson Valley, New York. The Miles of Hope Breast Caner Foundation’s Executive Director is Pari Forood. All funds that are raised in the Hudson Valley are used to support programs in the Hudson Valley.
