Mapua is proud to announce the accreditation by ABET of five (5) additional Engineering programs.

Director of Admissions and Scholarships at Mapúa Institute of Technology

The new programs are B.S. Chemical Engineering, B.S. Civil Engineering, B.S. Environmental and Sanitary Engineering, B.S. Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Mapúa stands to be the only school in the Philippines and in East Asia to have ABET's international accreditation. Stand tall, Mapúans!

    G'day Fellow Mapuans,

Its very nice to see that my former Alma Mater is getting its name and curricula recognised by one of the leading institutions of world standards in Engineering Studies. However, ABET is biased towards the American System which obviously not that helpful, if you're operating or being connected with Commonwealth Countries like UK, Australia, Canada, Africa etc.

It would be great to have similar accreditation from Commonwealth-country accepted standards in order to get a good spread and acknowledgment from various countries where Mapuans are operating on.

    Just some thoughts.

    Cheers.

Wow, congrats! I never thought I'd see this happen in my lifetime. ABET accreditation is a big deal as it gives parity to future graduates if they end up working in a 1st world country.

Mary Jane - What are the other programs aside from the 5 you've mentioned?

Rod - Check out the Washington Accord for reciprocity accommodations for Commonwealth countries. ABET is the premier accreditation body for engineering programs and yes, it is US based but if your country (where you're working now) is a signatory to the Washington Accord, and also the commonwealth countries will recognize the degree and vice versa. I don't think it's retroactive though so old folks like us don't get the benefits of the accreditation.

Hi Mel, also include in the list of Mapua ABET Accredited programs are Electronics (ECE), Electrical (EE) and Computer (CPE) Engineering. Mapua IT programs such as Computer Science (CS) and Information Technology (IT) are also ABET Accredited.

You may check ou the complete list via the ABET website www.abet.org under accredited programs. So far, only Mapua will show up here under Philippines.
