Do you know anyone who has left the workforce after having kids because “after the cost of childcare it was hardly worth the while to continue to work”? Or because they couldn’t find affordable quality care?

This year as we celebrate 100 years of International Women’s Day, and in the light of unprecedented appetite for gender balanced leadership on Australia’s boards and in leadership roles, we believe it’s time to rethink the structural barriers women face in forging their careers.
The cost of quality childcare – home care, day care, after school care and vacation care – is a key issue for Australia’s working families and for working women in particular:

* 48% of women say the cost of childcare has impacted upon their careers
* 74% of women say it was difficult to find available quality care while they worked
* 86% of women say they would give their vote to the party with a tax-deductible policy on childcare for working families

Please show your support here and help create the groundswell we need to make change happen now for all working families. « less
