I do not have to read this article to disagree 100%, In the current environment sales and marketing should be thriving. The new venues have opened many opportunities that did not exist before. In addition, if said *lost trust* is there, bottom line they hired the wrong Marketing Consultant. That is the great thing (and draw back) about Marketing; you must find the right fresh open company/individual. Just me and thank you for allowing me to comment.

Leslie I'd advise you to read this article. As I've answered the same question in this blog post . I agree with you that marketing must be thriving and it's thriving but not in the traditional way. Traditional marketing agencies have come to resemble bureaucracy in almost every way. And due to this these agencies are losing the trust of people. But at the same time there is an interesting phenomenon of the rise of Marketing consultant. I think the future belongs to the guy who will deliver sales and growth and more and more this guy is appearing to be an independent contractor or consultant free from clutches of ad agencies
