Ipad group syncronization

Executive Vice President Eastern Division Hunt Construction Group

We are. Top 20 builder and would like to syncronize all ipads weekly so all construction mangers have the latest materials and all ipads have the same content. We would like to sync 30 ipads. The ipad seems like it is more of a non business tool from the management of data standpoint. Any iideas?

Hi Kenneth,I dont believe that Apple provides a standard tool that does what you're looking for. They do support Mobile Device Management (MDM), which can be used to remotely manage the settings of groups of devices, but not to push files/data to the field. For more information you can view the Apple White Paper on MDM: http://images.apple.com/ipad/business/docs/iPad_MDM.pdf

Prolog Mobile can be used to automatically synchronize your Prolog data to any iPads running the app. That includes Drawings, RFIs, Punch Lists, Daily Work, and many other field related processes. For more information feel free to contact me or visit our website at: http://www.meridiansystems.com/products/prolog/prolog-mobile.asp

Kenneth, have a look at previous comments and yes you are right about management of data and integration. What are you trying to sync from?

You might want to look at using a cloud storage type of solution with all iPads accessing data from the same data location. This could be done with services like DropBox, Box, or SugarSync.

Yup, I agree with the others. MDM for device settings/apps sync and cloud solution for documents sync (see Steve's recommendations above). Some MDM applications may also support document syncing. I know salesforces are adopting the iPad in droves and one of their primary issues is syncing of sales documents.

Any MDM companies out there want to chime in?

You might also want to take a look at the Apple Configurator. It is an Apple app for deploying iOS devices in bulk. I think it is mainly geared at initial configuration syncing though. It's available in the Mac App Store.
