Gas Safety Checks and the HSE

HIgh quality professional agency services for Solicitors

HSE breaches for breaching gas safety regulations.

On the 29th March last a landord was prosecuted in Basildon for failing to comply with the safety checks, having had some checks undertaken by unregistered engineers. The Landlord was fined £2000 and ordered to do 150 hours of community service. There is no defence to this charge if the facts are proven so please be aware that the HSE take this aspect seriously and your clients would be well advised to ensure their obligations are complied with. As Managing Agents, the prosecution may still lie against your client but of course the subsequent breach of contract action against you may have significant damages awarded for landing them with a criminal conviction.
