Founded in 1992, the Florida Sterling Council is a not-for-profit 501c (3) corporation supported by the Executive Office of the Governor whose mission is to promote Florida's competitive edge and quality of life through promotion, assessment, and recognition of performance excellence culminating in the Governor's Sterling Award. A 40-member Board of Directors, from organizations across all Florida sectors, governs and oversees the Council's activities.

The Sterling Criteria, based on the National Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, provide a framework and an assessment tool for understanding organizational strengths and opportunities for improvement in your management system.

Training & Development:
The Florida Sterling Council is committed to providing organizations with resources and services to assist them in improving their management services. Training and consultation services are available at competitive rates. We offer regional public training and customized on-site training and mentoring to meet specific needs of leadership teams.
Some of the training opportunities that the Florida Sterling Council offers is as follows: Lean/Six-Sigma Green Belt, Leadership: Creating a Continuous Improvement & Innovation Culture, Rapid Process Improvement, Strategic Planning Facilitation, Data Driven Leadership, Process Improvement Facilitation, & Building Effective Teams.
