The Enterprise Architecture Network is now an open group
I am pleased to announce that, as the owner of this group, I have just switched us to an open discussion group. All future discussions will be fully visible, searchable, and shareable on the Web. All past discussions are now closed in a members-only archive. I look forward to our future discussions now joining the broader conversation of the wider Web.

Cyril S. • Yes, we are discussing common problems, why to be "closed" ? Even we are not able to solve everything, the experience is the most expensive knowledge which we can share for free - if we are willing to.
Jeffrey
Jeffrey S. • I just hope that this does not make the problems we have been having with off topic posts and spam even worse than it is now.
Serge
Serge T. • All "external" posts are subject to moderation!
Jeffrey
Jeffrey S. • That's good news - Then all we need is to get the members of this group to stay on topic.
Ed
Ed D. • @Jeffrey @Serge
If the discussion forum settings are edited to lower the threshold for flagging then it will allow for inappropriate posts to disappear much quicker.
Anietie
Anietie A. • I think we should make the past discussions open as well. It's vast and would be very useful to web users.
Serge
Serge T. • @Anietie, I do not think this is possible, it is the way LinkedIn have implemented this new feature.
Jacob
Jacob L. • What a splendid idea to open up the group. We will undoubtfully continue to get some vivid and bright discussions here.
Scott
Scott F. • Serge this is a great move. In the 2011 world of open social networking and transparency, it is important to have open communications as much as possible. Thanks for doing this. -scott

Manish R. • It is a good idea for certain...more knowledge the better for all. But as Jeffery said, I hope the spam and such doesnt increase!
Frank
Frank G. • Hello Serge,
I think you did the right thing. It will facilitate knowledge sharing beyond the group's borders and will allow more people that are outside of LinkedIn to see the group and join, only making it stronger.

Parmeswar M. • Opening up does bring in it's share of turbulence...but if the combind outlook is positive & adaptive then it will certainly yeild stunning progress...Linux ... is a good example.
Barry
Barry W. • is it possible to set read access open to all, yet restrict comments to members only to control spam?
Wayne
Wayne K. • Sounds interesting ... but I guess its does kind of diminish the value of belonging to the EAN group. It will be as interesting to see what we lose by this move as what we gain.
Serge
Serge T. • @Wayne: non group members can submit comments/ discussions but require that all comments from non group members go through moderation.
Wayne
Wayne K. • @Serge. Who's going to do the moderating?
Serge
Serge T. • I do it, but there is a new feature as from now. As soon as 3 people flag the status of the discussion as spam, it is automatically deleted.
Serge
Serge T. • @Barry, I believe I have answered? Non member can just read. Members discussions can be automatically deleted if more than 3 flags. I moderate new posts from non members.
Jeffrey
Jeffrey S. • Serge - If you need help moderating the group let me know. I would be happy to help out if needed.

Saikumar P. • This is a good transition to enrich and take it to the next step. I like the idea of moderation to put some controls on different aspects of the collaboration. May it is a good idea to define the moderation process.
