Closed Loop Recycling is what responsible manufacturers should be doing.... But what about re-purposing materials from end of cycle life vehicles? Got any applications or suggestions you can share?

Weatherize the homes of low income families w/recycled auto plastic! If this sounds good to you hit the link and vote for our project to win a grant! Vote early vote often!

Another refreshing idea to support the community & make a difference - Pepsi Refresh...

New technologies now ,make it possible to turn items such as auto plastics from car crushing into renewable fuels at a good profit. So can the poly foil so common in luxury item packaging with its previously unrecyclable aluminum. No need for low income people to bear the brunt of discards. Simply recycle auto plastics, foams and tires into fuels and keep the wheels turning. Sell the fuel and forget giving poor people the bum's end of the higherarchy pole. Used auto plastic is often loaded with cancer -causing chemicals from years of heavy smoke and exhaust exposure. Why would even poor people want to surround themselves with something that should be refined into fuels instead?

Burning scrap is nothing new, been done for years in Europe. The reason weatherizing homes with these high end plastics makes sense is because it pays dividends year after year in the form of energy savings. Think SUSTAINABLE Fernando... the one time pop from burning that plastic can not compete with the long term benefits of our proposal. Thanks for your thoughts, and comment.

BTW all of the plastic is cleaned before being re-purposed. I am not sure that the "cancer causing chemicals you mentioned should be put into the atmosphere... Fernando.

The plastic is not burned - its catalytic depolymerized and returned to its original hydrocarbons before being transformed into liquid fuels. The old incineration for making electricity is obsolete and waste can now be totally diverted from landfill using state of the art techniques - your link does not work so i have not much idea what you doing

There is the link Fernando, thank you for mentioning, it was not working. Are you familiar with highly engineered automotive plastics? Being familiar with that wide range of automotive thermoplastics and thermoset materials, can lead you down a variety of pathways.
Your knowledge of science is way beyond mine, but I have heard of these processes of exacting liquid fuels from waste plastic. I am simply not in favor of seeing the poorest folks in society being forced to choose between food or heat. In terms of business models, the more highly engineered the plastic (more expensive), the stronger the case for closed loop recycling or re-purposing. I would like to know more about the process you mention, and where "the best materials for that process" can be found. Does this process address themoset products as well? Urethane foam?
Shooting from the hip, I would say plastic blow molded fuel tanks would be a good candidate. Let's continue this dialogue, I am learning from it and appreciate it!

Ron. Thanks for the link and I wish you well with your project.

New processes allow for any type of plastics - carpets, poly foil plastics and foams or rubber and tires to be recycled and metals recovered while fuels are produced without PCBs or sulfur emitted to environment. The latest technology was invented in UK and allows 100% recycling on a small scale fitting with local dump sites.

Let me know if you are interested in this idea

I am in Portugal waiting on my seed capital release in Norway. Afterwards I am traveling to Ghana to meet with developers. We have many projects waiting to be developed and there is always opportunities in biomass and waste streams are everywhere.

    Just need reliable people.
    Cheers
