The Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) was incorporated as a non-profit organization in October 2005. The origin of CAWIC dates back to 1982, when a group of Toronto area professional women working in construction formed the Toronto Chapter 295 of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).

In 2006 CAWIC aligned itself through affiliate agreements with NAWIC in the USA and Australia.

CAWIC’s mandate is to facilitate the long-term success of women in Canada’s construction-related fields such as general contracting, trades, building products, architecture, engineering, interior design, and professional services. To accomplish this, CAWIC is in process of developing and implementing a variety of programs and services for women in construction-related fields including, but not limited to, the following:

▪ Affiliate programs
▪ Bursary programs
▪ Community outreach programs
▪ Educational seminars and workshops
▪ Fund raising
▪ Industry research and information exchange
