In early 2011, Automotive News embarked on a project to recognize the Electrifying 100 -- 100 leading figures in the global automotive industry's push for vehicle electrification. We could see that electrification potentially would transform the industry and the automobile as we know it, and thought it was important to identify the people driving the effort forward.
As we got into the process, we realized that our list would extend beyond the traditional automakers and suppliers that we regularly cover -- although it includes many of their leaders. We also recognized startup automakers, new suppliers such as battery makers, utilities, analysts, government officials, investors, major fleet customers, and the advocates moving public policy forward.
Because vehicle electrification involves so many new connections between organizations -- and most importantly, people -- who haven't worked together in the past, we decided to take our Electrifying 100 list one step further with this forum. We hope that it provides a platform for ongoing creative collaboration. « less
