Why Not? Is a young Dutch enterprise which is founded by three enthusiastic women. The Why Not foundation focuses on disabled children and youngsters in Kenya in the age of 4 to 18 years old. The foundation is committed to encourage and stimulate the upgrowth of children with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.
Because disability is not inability!
Mission:
In Kenya, children with disabilities are often looked upon as a ‘punishment of God’, with the result that children are disadvantaged and often also being abused. Next to that it is hard to make ends meet as a Kenyan family, but with a disabled child this is even more difficult. Why Not? aims to increase the opportunities and quality of life of these children by the following means:
* Developing and provisioning appropriate education
* Creating facilities for rehabilitation
* Interacting with the parents and environment of the children to increase knowledge and stimulate social acceptance.
The starting point is a self-reliant project by and for Kenyans.
