Western Maryland Health System, created in 1996 by the affiliation of Memorial Hospital and Medical Center of Cumberland and Sacred Heart Hospital (now WMHS Braddock Hospital) is a Verispan “Top 100” Integrated Health System consisting of two hospitals, a nursing home, regional cancer center, home care, hospice and physician/clinic practices. In late 2009, the two named hospitals will be replaced by a single new facility, Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
