Vela brings together two prosperous registered social housing providers - Housing Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees based Tristar Homes - which together have over 17,000 homes in their portfolio.
The two organisations will retain their distinct identities and continue to operate as separate charities with their own homes, working within local communities. However, there will be substantial benefits to operating under this new group arrangement, including greater buying power leading to better value for money for customers.
Vela will be strongly committed to delivering sustainable communities by making strategic community investment decisions. Working closely with residents, the Local Authorities and other agencies, we will improve and build homes, enhancing the local environment and the
neighbourhoods of Hartlepool and Stockton Boroughs.
The formation of Vela brings together shared expertise and best practice from both companies, which will mean even better services for customers. A wider range of community-based services, including those seeking to tackle financial exclusion, unemployment and worklessness, will also be delivered, so that we can achieve our vision of ‘shaping places, creating communities and changing lives ’.
