The University of Strathclyde was founded in 1796 by Professor John Anderson - the University today is the third largest in Scotland with some 15,000 (full-time-equivalent) students and 3,700 employees.
The John Anderson Campus stands in the very heart of Glasgow's city centre. Here are located the Faculties of Law, Arts and Social Sciences, Engineering, Science and the Strathclyde Business School. The University's Education Faculty is located in a parkland setting to the West of the City. The campuses are linked by a regular free bus service.
Strathclyde University's motto is 'The place of useful learning', and you will find this concept at the heart of much that is done here. The University's reputation in both teaching and research is high and developing all the time. It is a vibrant institution, facing with confidence the very real challenges of the current climate in higher education.
The University is firmly rooted in the West of Scotland, but has extensive links throughout the UK and abroad.
