Troy University, founded in 1887, is a comprehensive, doctoral-level international university of almost 31,000 students. Troy University operates four campuses in Alabama in Troy, Dothan, Montgomery and Phenix City. Through its Global Campus division, the University operates more than 60 locations outside of Alabama in 15 U.S. states, and 12 locations outside the United States. Troy University is a worldwide leader in distance education, teaching more than 15,000 students across 13 time zones via the Internet.
Troy University offers more than 70 degree programs through five colleges: arts and sciences, business, communication and fine arts, education, and health and human services. All programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Forbes Magazine’s annual survey of U.S. colleges and universities gave Troy University the highest ranking of all Alabama public universities. The University has received the “Best in the Southeast” designation from the Princeton Review for the last five years in a row.
International in scope, Troy University enrolls students from more than 60 nations. The Troy Campus is the home of Alabama’s Confucius Institute, dedicated to teaching Chinese language and culture, and the Center for International Business and Economic Development, which focuses on global initiatives to grow Alabama’s economy.
Troy University is also home of the internationally acclaimed Rosa Parks Library and Museum, located on the University’s Montgomery Campus on the site of the old Empire Theatre where Mrs. Parks made her courageous and historic stand in 1955.
Troy University competes at the highest level of collegiate athletics, fielding 17 athletic teams in NCAA-sanctioned sports. The Trojans football team has won four straight Sun Belt Conference titles. The University also fields a men’s and women’s rodeo team that competes in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s Ozark Region.
