The people of Fort Worth have a new vision for their city – one where the cherished Trinity River offers a renewed source of energy and pride for the area. With an 88-mile river running through each quadrant of the city, this plan, known as the Trinity River Vision, connects the people, neighborhoods, cultural centers and way of life for the citizens of Fort Worth.
Central to this vision is a plan for an urban, riverfront community that combines the need for updated flood control with smart growth in the heart of the city. New infrastructure will protect the inner city from flooding and it will create 12 miles of developable waterfront, including a 30 acre town lake. This dynamic mixed-use neighborhood will be home to more than 25,000 Fort Worth residents and will support 16,000 new jobs – a true live, work, play environment.
Another major element of the Trinity River Vision is the revitalization of a 1,000-acre park along the river in the city’s east side. The project includes major improvements to the parks ecosystem, including the addition of recreational amenities, such as a 6,500-seat outdoor amphitheater, a public Skatepark and an equestrian center will be added, making the park a regional hotspot for families and outdoor enthusiasts.
