In the midst of a tough economy, O.C. Jones & Sons, Inc. was seeking ways to promote some uplifting news during difficult times that directly affected our local communities. O.C. Jones, a heavy construction firm and leading builder of athletic fields, found the perfect opportunity to help under-served communities by sponsoring the TLC for Kids Sports program. Through the program, O.C. Jones partnered with KNBR 680AM Radio to hold a special contest. The winner would receive a new ball field.
TLC for Kids Sports, founded in 2009, is a non-profit corporation focused on improving kids’ sports throughout Northern California. Our vision is for every child involved in youth sports to play on a safe and handicap accessible field.
How it works:
* KNBR 680AM airs promotional announcements encouraging listeners to nominate their local youth ballpark.
* Entrants submit essays and photos through the TLC website - www.TLCforKidsSports.org.
* Finalists are selected and announced periodically.
* Multiple fields may be selected to receive a renovation.
* One field is selected as the Grand Prize winner.
* The entire community is invited to participate in Volunteer Days.
* Sponsors are encouraged and recognized.
* Grand Prize winner: the community is invited to celebrate with a grand opening ceremony featuring Brent Jones and other celebrity athletes, speeches from public officials, autographs, food, and a ceremonial game.
