Third Rock Ventures was founded in 2007 with the mission to launch transforming companies. During a time when early stage investing was in flux, we set out to build a different firm – a firm that was squarely focused on launching exceptional life science companies with passionate entrepreneurs, working in areas of disruptive science to make a difference in the lives of patients.
To make that mission a reality, we assembled a team with a proven track record of building some of the most respected and successful life sciences companies. With decades of complementary, cross-functional operational and leadership experience, we’ve developed a unique approach to launching, building and operating promising life sciences companies.
Our hands-on approach drives rapid growth and success for startup biotech and medtech companies. We actively engage and collaborate with our portfolio companies, and where needed, initially fill key leadership roles, to provide hands-on strategy and experience to successfully launch companies with the best vision, science, operations, people and culture.
We also assess early stage opportunities, in which we can found companies together with larger pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, based on disruptive science and technology to address unmet needs.
