Michael Melichar M.S. I dont know if anyone that uses substances thinks that they wont be able to stop at some point in time. The realization that they cant stop on their own and their identification as an addict are both ego crushing events. The hopelessness, terror and pain that an addict must come to terms with are life changing events. Hopefully, science and research can reveal methods to enlighten the substance abuser to the absolute devastation that eventual dependence will bring. Perhaps we can beat denial before it becomes embedded in the substance abusers mind, body and soul. 7 days ago
