Teach for China is an innovative non-profit organization taking a unique approach to eliminating educational inequity in China. We address the pressing need for human resources in China's low-income rural schools while laying a foundation for systemic change. Our intended impact rests on four pillars:
First, providing highly capable and enthusiastic teachers to schools in need. TFC recruits, trains and supports outstanding graduates from premiere Chinese and American universities, and assigns them as teaching fellows to one- to two-year posts in understaffed low-income schools;
Second, promoting cross-cultural and international learning by partnering American and Chinese volunteer teaching fellows in four-person teams, and connecting their students and schools to a world beyond, yet intimately connected to, their own local communities;
Third, supporting a culture of service in China by making long-term service desirable and financially viable for Chinese university graduates;
Fourth, fostering an internationally connected cohort of young leaders who understand firsthand the challenges facing students in low-income Chinese communities, and who share the insight and conviction to advance the cause of educational equity at the highest reaches of academia, business, non-profit and government.
