SSi Micro installs and maintains satellite & broadband networks in some of the world’s most unworkable locations. Large urban areas are often connected by fibre-optic Internet networks, but these physically connected networks are too expensive to install in rural and remote locations such as Northern Canada, as well as most of the world’s developing countries. In these cases, wireless satellite technology is the only cost-effective and reliable way to provide broadband service.
We’re experts in making this technology work in the harshest conditions and the hardest-to-reach places. We’ve deployed wireless Internet networks in Nunavik, Quebec, Nunavut, the NWT, as well as in Africa, Indonesia and in the South-Pacific country of Kiribati. We were also the first Canadian ISP to offer wireless Non-Line of Sight Internet access to its customers. In each situation, we designed and adapted existing software to meet the unique needs of remote locales.
Although we're Northern Canada's largest ISP, outside of Nunavut and the NWT, we might be the industry's best-kept secret. We like it that way. It's allowed us to grow slowly and remain firmly focused on developing our award-winning ideas while spending less time worrying about sales and marketing. Staying out of the spotlight also means we can do what we do best: design and deploy innovative satellite networks to bring the Internet to places nobody thought possible.
