The mission of the Singularity Policy Initiative ("SPI") is to transcend the Singularity with the natural evolution of life maintained and our humanity intact. This will be achieved by protecting cultural diversity, bio-diversity and our individuality. SPI recognizes that advancements in the information based technologies including: genetics; Robotics; Artificial intelligence; nano-technology; biological sciences and synthetic biology are increasing at an exponential rate. The probability of dramatically extending and enhancing human life and capabilities in the next 20 - 30 years is very high. The implications of humans achieving God-like powers in this short time frame needs to be addressed. A framework needs to be established for us to grow into this role.
