A design engineering company established in 1981, Select Technology (Selectec) has a reputation for technical excellence and innovation. Clients have included British Telecom, Black & Decker, Hoover and the Public Record Office.
In collaboration with The British Library, the company designed a flat light photographic device (profiled on the BBC’s ‘Tomorrow’s World’ programme) and a photocopier (the ‘Archivist’) with a sophisticated book-handling system. The latter development provoked worldwide interest and Selectec developed and patented a design to exploit this niche market. Selectec’s book copiers were sold into prestigious locations around the globe.
It became evident that these book copiers were successful in part because they were much simpler to operate than standard machines. Consequently, the company decided to develop a range of easy-to-use keyboards for copiers/MFPs. These ranged from keyboards that were configurable for different markets, companies or individuals to those that were particularly accessible to people with disabilities such as wheelchair users or those with visual impairments. In a further evolution, Selectec has developed a software platform that allows customisable user interfaces to be created for the copier/MFP’s own touchscreen or even to allow the copier/MFP to be controlled by any device with a browser.
The company also seeks to promote first class solutions from third parties which also comply with the company’s ease-of-use philosophy. For example, Selectec is the master distributor for PaperCut MF software in the UK, bringing to bear the company’s unparalleled experience in print & copy accounting.
Where required, Select Technology will also provide bespoke solutions for third parties.
