In 1900, SECURA was founded after a massive cyclone tore through New Richmond, Wis., destroying homes and businesses, killing more than 100 people, injuring 500 others, and inspiring 135 charter members in the Cicero Township to protect themselves and each other by developing The Farmers Home Mutual Hail, Tornado and Cyclone Insurance Company of Seymour, Wisconsin. The company became SECURA Insurance in 1986.
