The above was a recruitment advert placed by Ernest Shackleton in 1913 recruiting men for an Antartic Expedition. Rather than put people off, the advert attracted over 1000 relevant responses. Why? Because Shackleton was open and honest about what candidates could expect from the job.
The advert may be centuries old but it embodies my approach to recruitment today. Be honest, manage expectations and deliver results.
