The Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale Trust, made up of volunteers from all levels of the business and professional community, began selling Signature Bricks in January, 1989, to raise funds specifically designated for ongoing Riverwalk promotions and improvements. The group, although not a department of the City of Fort Lauderdale, works very closely with the City's Parks and Recreation Department. The group has sold over 23,000 Signature Bricks along the Riverwalk to raise funds for beautification and enhancement of the Riverwalk Park. Additionally, the Board of Directors has emerged as primary advocates for the Riverwalk Park.
