Rhode Island Quality Institute (RIQI) is the only organization nationally to win all three of the major ARRA awards (Beacon, REC and HIE). This award is to build and strengthen our health information technology (HIT) infrastructure and exchange capabilities to demonstrate the vision of the future where hospitals, clinicians, and patients are meaningful users of HIT.
RIQI has joined 14 other communities nationally to receive the Beacon Communities Grant award. Through our Regional Extension Center initiative, we assist providers as they transform their practice through the meaningful use of EHRs. And, as Rhode Island's Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO), we operate the state's HIE network, currentcare, which allows the interchange of important health data between physicians in order to give the best and most comprehensive care to Rhode Island patients.
