Matthew Davis Send in Dennis Rodman and his entourage to negotiate their release, for all sakes at least Jesse Jackson was able to secure the release of three US soldiers in the Balkans conflict. Sometimes its best to leave D.C. out of it!18 hours ago

James Stewart Prison education is true rehabilitation. Simply throwing someone behind bars does not work. It is not beneficial and it does not delve deep into the roots of the problem. When one is educated, he/she has more of an incentive to conform to society's norms and expectations. In essence, the value system of the individual will be aligned with that of society's. The next step that needs to be taken from most States, including increasing educational opportunities for inmates, is to eradicate or mitigate the stigmatization experienced by former felons. Many jobs that are posted do not even consider anyone who has a felony on their record, regardless of how long ago the crime was committed. 2 days ago

Anthony Celso I think it is quite clear that no one believes that the Administration has employed the necessary means to upend the jihadist state. To succeed the strategy rests upon a number of improbable conditions: (1) Sunni tribal rebellions against IS and alignment with Baghdad; (2) Sunni countries cutting off the flow of IS money and fighters;(3) the formation of a moderate Syrian rebel movement simultaneously to defeat both the Assad regime and IS and ; (4) Iraqi national reconciliation and a reconstituted army capable of sustained offensive operations. At best we can use air strikes to degrade IS offensive capability and kill IS leaders. While this needs to be done, it is not enough. 4 days ago
