Proboscis is a non profit artist-led studio focused on creative innovation and research, socially engaged art practices and transdisciplinary, cross-sector collaboration. Collaboration is at the core of our creative practice and ethos: involving innovative collaborations in fields as diverse as medical research, music, community development, housing and urban regeneration, pervasive computing, mapping and sensor technologies.
Our work includes large scale collaborative artworks involving in depth research and a high level of public participation such as : Mapping Perception, Urban Tapestries and Bookleteer, Social Tapestries, Topographies and Tales, With Our Ears to the Ground and Sutton Grapevine. Other projects include large scale curatorial initiatives such as Navigating History.
Current & Recent projects include a collaboration with Empty Shops Network, sensor sonification research Sensory Threads, urban exploration/collaborative zine-making, City As Material and artist residency, As It Comes.
