Photosymbols is a limited company based in Bristol, UK.
We've been making easy-read information since 1993, originally as part of an NHS easy-read information service.
We set up Photosymbols in 2003, to bring together the work we'd been doing in photo communication, and to release our first picture collection.
Til then, we'd been living in a black and white world of line drawings and stick figures. It wasn't helping the information we were designing jump off the page. And that's what led to the idea. 8 years on and we feel honoured to see the wonderful ways people are using photosymbols across the UK, but also within Europe, USA, Canada and Australia.
Photosymbols 4 introduces a cloud-based photo-library that can deliver the latest pictures to our users as soon as they are added - no more waiting 2 years for the next release. We also introduce a templates feature, video tutorials and some useful online tools. It represents every bit of experience we have, distilled into one easy to use, accessible system.
We continue to develop the range of pictures, as well as doing easy read design and training. We have strong links with the self-advocacy movement and continue to support several groups in the south-west of England.
