Two years on, with over 120 retailers signed up to the scheme, the On-Pack Recycling Label is bringing greater awareness about recycling in all quarters. The OPRL scheme is one of the first initiatives to have successfully bridged the gap between local authorities, consumers and retailers.
Overview:
The British Retail Consortium, (BRC) with support from WRAP have created a packaging label that explains the recyclable status of the main packaging components. The label is aimed at any consumer packaging that is available in the UK.
This scheme was the first in the world to create a label that provides consumers with tangible information about what can and can't be recycled in the UK rather than what could hypothetically be recycled. For the first time, consumers are put at the heart of the scheme. No other recycling symbol/logo has ever done this.
Our mission:
The label to appear on an ever-increasing range of consumer product lines with the intention of helping more people to recycle and boosting local authority collection systems as a result.
