In February 2008 a group of Internet and media veterans, led by New Orleans natives Bill Hammack and Don Jones, purchased NewOrleans.Com and began a complete revamp of the portal. Their goal: make NewOrleans.Com the premier Internet site for visitors and a “Hyper-Local” experience for people who live and work in the metropolitan area.
Since its inception in 1995, NewOrleans.Com has primarily been a hospitality portal. Today it generates up to eight and a half million monthly page views from individuals who are planning to visit the area. When someone plans a trip to our city, NewOrleans.Com, the most intuitive and recognizable web address for this area, is the first place they go to find out where to stay, where to eat and what do to. NewOrleans.Com will continue to provide this valuable service, while raising the bar on the quality and depth of visitor information available on the site.
However, there’s another aspect of the new vision for NewOrleans.Com. This is a focus on our local community--those people who live and work in the New Orleans area. For you, we’re going to create a robust user experience which we hope will become part of your daily routine.
More than 25 talented folks – from reporters to Internet technicians – have joined the NewOrleans.Com team. This includes some of the most talented writers and editors in the city focused on generating exciting, local content focusing on music, food, sports, entertainment and politics.
NewOrleans.Com! The name says it all!
