CrisisDirect / CrisisRadar (Mobile & Web Crisis Response & Support)

Product Overview

Lead by NAG Foundation, CRISISDirect is a team of Private and Government partners
to provide disaster response technology solutions globally.

NAG Foundation has launched a beta version of CrisisDirect, a free mobile and web-mapping application to alleviate breakdown of standard communications during natural disasters, such as recent events in Japan.

The application allows victims to submit requests for aid or assistance, and emergency responders to log the resources they are providing (such as: food, water, shelter, etc.).  CrisisDirect uses Google maps, Twitter, and other social media to effectively organize, allocate, and deploy emergency resources, and for victims to avail of them.

The world is no stranger to disasters, but modern-day disasters pose more serious consequences as the potential for devastation is higher than ever before. There are vast infrastructural advancements, foreign investments, and larger populations at risk in today’s global society.  NAG has worked to create CrisisDirect, a mobile application that provides a high level of information integration during emergency situations. CrisisDirect is an application that can be used by all parties affected by a disaster. Victims can provide status updates or submit requests while emergency responders or government officials can provide details about resources and facilities. Information that has been submitted is then projected onto a map visible by all users.  CrisisDirect is capable of becoming a very useful communication tool if a nation’s infrastructure gets damaged. The many Japanese who have been displaced by the earthquake and tsunami may use the application to request supplies, resources, or medical aid. Others, such as government officials or responders, can use CrisisDirect to send out urgent messages regarding aid and assistance to the public. Ultimately, CrisisDirect has the potential to leverage existing resources to facilitate a prompt and speedy recovery.
