Realizing that we have a responsibility for the world in which future generations will live, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania created the McKeever Center in 1974. The McKeever Center is a public service institute of the PA State System of Higher Education.
Our general mission is to guide individuals toward developing and maintaining a sustainable relationship between themselves and the natural world in his/her workplace, residence and recreation.
Regardless of the season, McKeever Environmental Learning Center is a special place for conferences, retreats, business meetings, youth functions, and leadership events. Nestled into 205 wooded acres, the center’s year-round facilities provide a comfortable site for all types of events.
Many groups take advantage of the facility – non-profit organizations, youth groups, boy/girl scouts, churches, businesses, colleges, and government agencies.
Our buildings are easily accessible by a paved walkway that meanders through native planting, butterfly gardens, and the edges of a hardwood forest.
Three dormitory-style lodges accomodate up to 150 guests overnight. A central lounge with a fireplace is located in each lodge creating a warm atmosphere for socializing.
A community feeling is carried over to the dining hall where the fireplace and seating arrangements encourange relaxed mealtime conversation. The McKeever Environmental Learning Center Dining Service has a variety of menus designed to meet the needs of our user groups.
