The 511-bed Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven, a community teaching hospital affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine, is renowned for excellence in patient care and medical education.
Since 1907, Saint Raphael's experienced physicians and other clinicians have offered the Greater New Haven community state-of-the-art technology, the most advanced procedures, and a comprehensive array of services. As important as the sophistication and scope of our services is how they are delivered. As a faith-based organization sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, our care is delivered with compassion and respect for the dignity of each individual.
Saint Raphael's is the Connecticut leader in bilateral joint replacement, and the regional provider of choice for adult inpatient surgical services, inpatient services to persons 65 and older, orthopedic surgery (particularly single-joint replacements), and thoracic surgery. Other clinical services of particular distinction and focus include: spine surgery; vascular surgery; cardiac care; cancer care; women's and children's services; and psychiatric services for children, adolescents and adults.
Over the past century, Saint Raphael's has grown from a 12-room hospital into Connecticut's fourth largest hospital. We've also become the Saint Raphael Healthcare System - an integrated delivery system that offers a continuum of care. This includes short-term rehabilitation and long-term care at the 122-bed Sister Anne Virginie Grimes Health Center and homecare services for 34 area towns through VNA Services.
In addition to offering services on our main New Haven campus, Saint Raphael's offers care through satellite facilities in Branford, Hamden and Shelton.
